In recent news, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that the current eviction moratorium will end, leaving thousands of renters at risk of losing their homes—California’s own eviction moratorium is set to end September 30th. Thankfully, California will continue to provide financial assistance to qualifying landlords and renters impacted by the pandemic.
The California COVID-19 Rent Relief program has already assisted over 30,000 households and paid over $300 million in funds to help residents cover 100% of unpaid rent or utilities. Landlords and renters can now verify eligibility by visiting HousingIsKey.com, or by calling 833-430-2122, and if eligible, apply.
Households may be eligible to receive help to pay past due or future rent and utilities if you:
- Have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19,
- Have past due rent or utilities, and
- Have a household income that is not more than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
Again, your help is crucial to ensuring that households across California are aware of the program and can apple for financial assistance. We would greatly appreciate your help getting the word out about the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program.
You can find all shareable materials in the “CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Toolkit” in various languages. Just by posting on your social media platforms or sharing in your organization’s newsletter, we can help Californian’s recover from the pandemic.
