Gladdys Uribe was born and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley along California’s Central Coast. She graduated from Dunn School in 1998. She subsequently enrolled at Occidental College in Eagle Rock, California. She graduated cum laude in 2002 with a B.A. in Sociology and was honored as the 2002 Student Leader of the Year. After graduation, she moved back to the Santa Ynez Valley and worked for People Helping People, a local non-profit. She also taught English as a Second Language to adults. In 2003, Gladdys matriculated at the UCLA School of Law. She served as co-chair of the UCLA La Raza Law Student Association and was active on the board of the UCLA Chicano-Latino Law Review. She interned with the Learning Rights Project advocating for children with learning differences and for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network assisting immigrants in detention centers. She graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 2006 with concentrations in the Critical Race Studies Program and the Public Interest Law & Policy Program. She has practiced immigration law for nearly ten years and runs her own practice. She currently serves on Dunn School’s Board of Trustees and is a former board member of the Mexican American Bar Association, the Latina Lawyers Bar Association and the Marco Firebaugh Dream Fund. Gladdys has been featured as a legal commentator and volunteer on MundoFOX 22 and Univision.
